Filled with antique furniture, chandeliers, and memorabilia from the nineteenth century, the Old Court is a reminder of the sophisticated styles of a century past. Each of the ten rooms and the public areas has been carefully designed to reflect period tastes.

A B&B near Brown University in Rhode Island Ranging from the ornateness of Rococo Revival to the intricacy of Eastlake refinement, the Old Court encompasses the best nineteenth-century decors. In rooms overlooking the Capitol and downtown Providence, you'll feel as if you've entered a more gracious era.

Yet you'll find every convenience of twentieth century living. All rooms have private baths; some have wet bars. The antique Victorian beds have been modified so that they are as comfortable and as spacious as modern beds.

Breakfast is served every morning in a beautiful dining room on the lower level. You can enjoy croissants with butter, pastry, juice, and a full home made breakfast as you sit in the midst of elegant surroundings.

The Old Court is ideally situated for anyone visiting Providence. A three minute walk puts you in the center of downtown Providence or in the middle of the campuses of Brown University and Rhode Island School of Design. You can spend days wandering the East Side looking at great architecture or shopping at local stores. The Old Court was built in 1863 by Alpheus Morse. Originally a rectory, it sits next to the historic Rhode Island Courthouse, which currently houses the Rhode Island Historical Preservation Commission.

Italiante in design, the Old Court reflects early Victorian styles including the passion for ornate Italian mantelpieces, plaster moldings, and twelve-foot ceilings.

March to November: $135 weekday, $155 weekend

December to February: $115 weekday, $135 weekend

RESERVATIONS

When making reservations we will ask for a credit card number (Visa, Mastercard, American Express or Discover) to guarantee the room (no charge will be put through until you actually arrive and complete your stay).

CANCELLATIONS

Reservations may be cancelled up to 1week prior to arrival without a cancellation fee. Within 7 days, one night's rental for each night that falls within the 7 day period will be charged to your credit card unless we are able to re-rent the room, then no charge will appear. Because we are a smaller establishment, we cannot absorb last minute cancellations.

CORPORATE RATES

Less 10% Sunday through Thursday, Fri-Sat Rack Rate. On volume stays, special rates may be contracted. Executive accommodations and services available. Contact the manager at 401-751-2002

DIRECTIONS

From Route 95: Exit 20, to Route 195 East, Take Exit 1 (downtown exit). Exit 1 empties onto Memorial Blvd. Pass your first stoplight (Crawford). Take a right at the 2nd light (College St.) Go through next set of lights(South Main) to the next cross street (Benefit). Take a left onto Benefit, and go through two stop lights (Waterman and Angell St). The Old Court is on the left at #144. Parking is accessible from North Court Street.
